Iceland traditions Iceland festival parade and events are very important for the people of Iceland. The country of 300,000 people they all either believe or don’t deny the existence of fairies, elves and other beings. The winter food festival is to celebrate the Viking heritage and eat the traditional food. Which traditional starts on the first Friday between 19th and 25th of January and ends on Saturday between the 18th and the 24th of February. The traditional food of Iceland is from the Viking which were sea bearing people. 'hkarl' - putrefied Greenlandic shark meat 'skyr'- yogurt made with 'rennet' 'flatkokur' - flat, thin rye breads eaten with butter 'hardfiskur' - dried fish, eaten with butter 'lifrarpylsa' - pudding made out of lambs liver 'brennivn' - an alcoholic beverage distilled from potatoes and flavored with the seeds of caraway herb |
